Melissa favorites:
Song: Actually, I love all of the Melissa songs. If there was one that I could only listen to for the rest of my life, it would probably be "Message To Myself." I love its positive message and fun beat.
CD: I love her most recent albums from
Breakdown to
The Awakening. My favorite of those would be
The Awakening, which is Melissa's most different album. It isn't like
Skin which is sad. It includes a bit of sad songs but is nicely mixed with upbeat songs, slower songs, fun songs ("Threesome"!!), love songs, and political, all mushed into
The Awakening, my favorite album and story.
Lyric or quote: I actually just wrote a report on "Truth is what you get, when truth is what you speak" which could be interchangeable with "Love is what you get, when love is what you speak." I guess they are my favorites because they encourage a positive outlook.
Song to hear live: I was at my first concert two years ago, and was absolutely excited to hear her medley of "Silent Legacy/ Scarecrow/ Tuesday Morning." It was filled with thought. They are nicely faded and mixed together.
When did you first discover Melissa's music?
Well I was only about five in 2001, when my Mom purchased
Your Little Secret and I remember hearing Melissa belt out "But there's no one to hear/ You might as well scream/ They never woke up from the American Dream/ But they don't understand..." and so on. It was powerful, and from then on I have loved Melissa Etheridge.
Most memorable Melissa moment:
My most memorable Melissa moment was seeing Melissa walk out on stage before my eyes in the last tour. It is just powerful to see such an inspiration and to really be there. I can also remember my anticipation for
The Awakening last summer. You can ask my family how excited I got each Monday last summer. I remembered waking up and waiting for a new song to be debuted on the website every week.
Funniest Melissa-related story:
One evening, I was walking out of my bedroom, when I heard a loud voice, the voice of my Mom's wife Lynn, singing "I Run For Life" enthusiastically, and because she couldn't sing, it was terrible. So now on any car trip, she has to sing "I Run For Life" for the entire family.
How many concerts have you attended?
I have only went to one considering I am twelve, but my Moms have already bought our tickets for the concert in Reading, PA (Revival 2008!!!) and am hoping to see many more!
Favorite driving MLE music:
I still have about 5 years until I can drive, but I love to have my Moms play "Ruins." Of course, I always have to say, "Mom. Number 9 on Yes I Am." I like to hear it while driving because it has the perfect rhythm to roll down the road with.
About me:
Favorite weekend escape:I like being outside or in my bedroom. Either way, I listen to Melissa. My day cannot be complete without one 30 minute session of Melissa music. I also spend time on the weekends learning and practicing the Melissa songs whether it is with my voice or the guitar.
Favorite guilty pleasure food: I cannot live without dark chocolate. I crave no food that much. I have dark chocolate everything! Even dark chocolate hot cocoa and dark chocolate shaped like CDs!
Favorite words to live by: "Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get."
Are you awake? How have you incorporated being 'green' into your life?
I am very awake and have been doing things such as:
-recycling
-using a lunchbox
-conserve resources
-share tips and spread the word on being green
-use less electricity
-use florescent light bulbs
I think it is important to help our home!
